Ok, am now on a plane from Bangkok to koh samui for a two day rest before I head home. I found it really hard to get on the plane as I am really missing my kids and just want to jump on a plane back to Australia! also I am struggling with the idea of relaxing on a beach in luxury after what I have just experienced and seen..... Back to last night....... The kids arrived at the hotel by bus and we waited outside for them and clapped and cheered as they got off the bus! They were so excited and it was nice to welcome them in the same way that they had welcomed us earlier in the day at the orphanage. We all went into the hotel restaurant and sat at large round tables with about 10 to a table. We all sat amongst the kids. They did a few performances for us again that were amazing and then to our absolute surprise and delight Kuhn Thiew walked onto the dance floor dressed beautifully in traditional Thai dress and danced for us with some of the teenage girls! It was truly beautiful to see her glowing. We ate a buffet dinner and I simply cannot explain how well manneredand respectful the kids were. They ate first and lined up serving themselves from the table. But to also see their excited faces at all the food and simple things such as the French fries was so much fun! They look after each other amazingly and shared everything with the other kids at the table. They also looked to each other when they weren't sure about something. They pray before each meal, and even the tiniest toddlers bowed their heads reverently. And when they ate they were so quiet and so well mannered it was amazing! Can you imagine what a room full of 80 kids eating in Australia would sound like?? Next came a presentation about how hands has changed the orphanage with many before and after photos, so lots more tears! I have a copy of the presentation so anyone interested I can have a slide night!!! Next came the fun! The music cranked up and we had a disco!! The kids grabbed our hands and we danced for hours! With young and old alike, it was incredible and I really can't decide if it was us or them having more fun! Some of the teenage dancers were teaching me their moves, and giggling at my attempts! But all the time they were still thanking me and hugging me and asking for lots of photos! Loads of fun! And if the kids saw our drink was empty they would refill it for us. Such beautiful kids. When it came time for them to leave we waved them off just as they had done to us from the orphanage that afternoon. They glued themselves to the windows waving excitedly! So many new friends, so many happy healthy faces! I hope that our presence here will help these beautiful kids become more accepted in their community and to feel that they are valued, loved and so very precious! I hope that they develop a sense of self worth, confidence and pride because they truly deserve it!
